A Long Day's Journey Into Knit

Well, it certainly took quite a bit longer than I'd anticipated, but my proposal to teach knitting at Grace Community Center has been accepted!!!

I'm thrilled. I'm excited. I'm blown over.

And I'm NERVOUS.

This is such a big opportunity for me, and I don't want to screw it up.

I'll be spending a lot of time and energy getting my lesson plans and materials put together.

Already this weekend, I've spent quite a few hours recreating my logo, which I'd previously designed in an image program that isn't quite as good as GIMP. So I was forced to "reinvent the wheel," as it were - a mistake I will not be making again any time soon.

So we're off to the races!

I need to create:
  • a flyer to post at the center "advertising" the class
  • business cards (for which more than a few people have asked and I've always had to blush and hem and haw and say "Gosh, I really should get around to updating them...")
  • handouts for students (got the first one done today - a list of books I'd highly recommend to beginning knitters)
  • verrrrrry deeeeetayyyuhhhhled lesson plans to submit to the director of the center, so she'll know just exactly what I'll be teaching in each session
  • a draft of a letter to present to craft retailers in hope of getting supplies donated
Gosh...there must be things I'm forgetting, but for now, that'll definitely keep me busy for a while.

So, for now, signing off with my new "Official Show Biz Name:"

Messless Broccoli Preparation

Do you hate the mess that broccoli makes when you break the florets off the stalk prior to cooking?

Man, I sure do.

Next time you have to prepare broccoli, break the florets off the stalk from the outside of the plastic produce bag, let them fall off inside the bag, then remove the stalk, and pour the florets (and all those pesky tiny little bits) into your cooking pot!

Huzzah!

Episodes of MST3K

ROBOT ROLL CALL!

My favorite TV series of all time would probably be
Mystery Science Theater 3000.

We own many episodes of it and watch at least one or
two most every day.

We have:
  • Manos: The Hands of Fate
  • Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
  • The Screaming Skull
  • Hamlet (yes, Hamlet)
  • The Final Sacrifice
  • Quest of the Delta Knights
  • Devil Fish
  • Angels Revenge
  • Revenge of the Creature
  • Girl in Gold Boots
  • Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders
  • Track of the Moon Beast
  • Soultaker
  • The Touch of Satan
  • The Projected Man
  • They Live By Night
